The new Renault Bridger concept showcases a rugged and boxy design, maximising space under four metres, which will be produced in India for the world starting 2027.
Renault Group has pulled the wraps off the new Bridger Concept at its Strategy Day 2026, previewing the automaker’s upcoming subcompact SUV for India. The new Renault Bridger concept showcases a rugged and boxy design, maximising space under four metres. The French automaker has already confirmed that the Bridger will be made in India for domestic and export markets, and the production version is slated to arrive in 2027.
Renault Group has announced that the new Bridger concept will be available in a variety of powertrain options, including electric with “best-in-class efficiency”. The company promises “exceptional roominess” in the cabin. The SUV will have a high driving position, providing excellent front and rear visibility. India will be at the heart of the Bridger’s development, the company said. The Bridger will go on sale in the country first, followed by other markets.

By 2030, the company says it aims to sell over two million Renault cars worldwide with half of its sales coming from outside Europe. The automaker also aims to achieve 100 per cent electrification in Europe by the end of the decade, and 50 per cent outside Europe. A robust electrification strategy also makes the brand futureproof, it said.
The upcoming Bridger will be a key product for Renault India, and is likely based on the Renault Global Modular Platform, which also underpins the new-gen Duster. Moreover, it will spawn a bigger seven-seater SUV that’s slated to arrive towards the end of the year in the country.

Visually, the Bridger concept gets striking lines, a high shoulder line, and angular wheel arches. The upright front adds to the rugged look, while the angular-shaped LED headlamps promise an imposing design at the front. The rear sports twin LED taillights and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, further enhancing the rugged looks. Other highlights include the short overhangs and a tall stance.

The Bridger concept has a ground clearance of 200 mm, which should be carried over on the production version as well. The concept rides on 18-inch wheels and the SUV is being regarded as an “urban adventurer”. Renault says the Bridger will have a knee room of 200 mm at the rear, which would be segment leading. Moreover, the boot capacity will be 400 litres.
More details on the Bridger remain under wraps but Renault is expected to plonk a new 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, along with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol. The electric version is expected to arrive a few years later.
