River currently operates out of South India and in the coming weeks is gearing up to launch in three more cities, including one in Maharashtra.
In a span of just two years of production, River EV has achieved two major milestones. Firstly, the company has surpassed its ₹1,000 crore revenue milestone, and secondly it sells 1,000 units on a monthly basis. Both these figures are quite encouraging given the fact that River EV operates out of just south India with just 20 outlets and has only one product: the River Indie.
The River Indie is also a game changer in the electric two-wheeler market. Fondly referred to as the “SUV of Scooters,” it is one of the most practical offerings in the market now. Its rugged and bulky body design is aptly complimented by a massive 43-litre boot space. Along with a 12-litre glovebox, there’s 55-litre of storage space on offer here, something that none of its competitors have, and this includes the likes of Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube – both of whom are dominating the electric two-wheeler sales in the country now.

So, as a package the River Indie has always been unique. It is powered by a 4 kWh battery that is good for 120 km of claimed range on a single charge, which is quite the respectable range. The battery comes paired to a 6.7 kW motor that is good enough for a top speed of 90 kmph – so that doesn’t make the River Indie a slouch either given that it tips the scales at 143 kg. This was one of the main reasons that River’s CEO and co-founder, Arvind Mani, was awarded with the Jagdish Khattar Rising Star Award at the 2024 Acko Drive Awards.

In the coming months, River EV will be expanding its footprint across the country and will enter Trivandrum, Vijayawada, and Pune. By 2026, it aims to be present in 100 cities. Will this catapult River Indie towards the top of the electric two-wheeler sales charts, bringing it closer to the likes of the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta and more.
