Under this MoU, Rolls-Royce will enrol students from IIT Bombay who have been selected for internship opportunities to work alongside its defence engineering team in Bengaluru.

In a bid to make a closer collaboration between academia and industry for future-ready talent, applied innovation, and national competitiveness, luxury automobile maker Rolls-Royce on Friday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IITB) to enable knowledge exchange and upskilling, and to explore opportunities to collaborate on joint projects in areas of mutual interest.

Under this MoU, Rolls-Royce will enrol students from IIT Bombay who have been selected for internship opportunities to work alongside its defence engineering  team in Bengaluru.

Evolving Technology Landscape

The signing of this MoU comes at a time when India’s technology and engineering ecosystem is rapidly evolving, backed by an emphasis on indigenous capability development, given its vast pool of technology talent.

This is also the time when engineering demands deepen across sectors, and a focus on supporting cutting-edge research and the ability to convert it into practical, scalable solutions is becoming a critical differentiator.

The MOU was signed by Prof. Sachin C. Patwardhan (Dean R&D), IIT Bombay and GS Selwyn, executive vice president of Rolls-Royce India, in the presence of Alex Zino director business development and future programmes, UK and international, Rolls-Royce and senior representatives from both sides.

“This partnership with IIT Bombay reflects our broader commitment to building strategic collaborations that advance shared ambitions in innovation, talent development and technology leadership. As we deepen our engagement in India, initiatives like this help unlock new opportunities to co-create solutions, through structured engagement between the academic and industrial ecosystems. We look forward to knowledge-sharing opportunities with the experienced academics and faculty at IIT Bombay," GS Selwyn, Executive Vice President, Rolls-Royce India and Managing Director, MTU India, said in a statement.
