Rolls-Royce Unveils Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has introduced a limited-edition collection called the "Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection." The inspiration for these 25 bespoke motor cars is the captivating phenomenon of a solar eclipse, coinciding with an annular eclipse in the Western Hemisphere on October 14. The car boasts a unique Lyrical Copper exterior colour, which incorporates powdered copper pigment, creating a dark finish that reveals a rich iridescence when it catches the light. Mandarin accents are found below the Pantheon Grille, brake callipers, and hand-painted coachline.

The vehicle features a fully bespoke Starlight Headliner with a special animation that mimics the total solar eclipse. As the car's doors close and the engine starts, a mesmerising sequence begins, recreating the eclipse with 940 'stars' forming a bright corona around the lunar silhouette. The animation lasts for precisely seven minutes and 31 seconds, the maximum duration of a total solar eclipse. The illuminated fascia showcases 1,846 laser-etched stars' representing a timeline of a total eclipse, meticulously placed by a single bespoke designer. This process took over 100 hours to complete.

The collection features a unique timepiece that incorporates a 0.5-carat diamond, symbolising the 'Diamond Ring' effect during a solar eclipse. This marks the first time a gemstone has been integrated into a Rolls-Royce clock's bezel. The bi-coloured seats are inspired by the golden twilight observed during a solar eclipse. They feature over 200,000 individual perforations, creating a visually stunning effect.

Other bespoke touches include illuminated treadplates, umbrellas with Mandarin piping hidden in the coach doors, and a unique indoor car cover bearing the Private Collection's wordmark. This collection encapsulates the rare beauty of a solar eclipse, with only 25 units allocated to clients worldwide.
