This collaboration also celebrates the success of Royal Enfield’s Super Meteor 650 in global markets.
Royal Enfield has collaborated with the leading bike-to-bike communication device company, Sena to launch the co-branded 50S helmet communication device. The 50S will be available in India priced at ₹35,990. The partnership also aims to celebrate the success of Royal Enfield’s cruiser bike, the Super Meteor 650 in global markets.
Unlike other associations of Royal Enfield so far where the customer benefits from a more conservative price point, the 50S will be retailed by Royal Enfield at the same price as it is sold via Sena or its distributors in India. The only difference will be the Sena 50S will carry Royal Enfield badging on it.
As for the Sena 50S communication device, it can be retrofitted to all kinds of helmets. Like a typical intercom device, the Sena 50S will bear a speaker set, microphone and a controller module, which is developed by sound specialists: Harman Kardon.
The 50S features a SENA Mesh Intercom that supports connectivity for up to 9 channels, and riders can stay connected from 2 km to a maximum of 8 km distance. With Bluetooth 5-enabled, the system also supports smartphone connectivity which further allows you to access the new SENA Wave technology. This tech enables limitless connectivity over the internet. So, whenever the need arises, Wave can automatically switch from Mesh to VoIP. This maintains the connection when riders are even outside the range. If a connection via Mesh is possible again, Wave automatically switches back to these modes without interruption.
We would have liked if Royal Enfield had done a bit more towards this collaboration by either slashing prices of the comm set by a fair margin or managing to integrate Sena’s connectivity technology into its bikes. For instance, the Super Meteor 650 could get the same colour TFT screen as the Himalayan 450 and music controls as well as call controls would be easier to execute via Sena’s involvement.
