Apart from the phenomenal starting price, there are other highlights of the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450
Royal Enfield has launched the younger sibling of the Himalayan 450 under the moniker of Guerrilla 450. It is priced at ₹ 2.39 lakh and comes in three variants. While the price itself is a great offer as of now, here are 5 highlights of the bike that also deserve as much attention as that. Take a look at the walk-around below.
Previously, we had assumed Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 to be a scrambler, but it doesn't conform to the conventional dynamics of a typical scrambler. Instead, it's a hybrid blend of a traditional roadster motorcycle and a scrambler, executed in a way that avoids a Frankenstein's monster-like appearance. In fact, the Guerrilla 450 does manage to make a style statement with its unique design. Based on the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, this new bike carries over the tail section, centre panel, and exhaust muffler from the ADV bike. However, the fuel tank shape is more flowing and smaller. The three variants - Analogue, Flash, and Dash - differ in colour options and features. The top variant boasts two exclusive colours - Brava Blue and Yellow Ribbon - while the lower variants share Playa Black, with additional options of Smoke on the lowest variant and Gold Dip on the mid-variant. The top variant also features distinctive highlights, including a coloured front wheel and subframe. It also gets tank lines which are hand-masked. The bright colour shades do make the new Royal Enfield stand out.
The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is powered by the Sherpa motor as seen on the Himalayan 450. It's a recently developed 450 cc liquid-cooled engine that produces the same output as the Royal Enfield Himalayan: 39.5 bhp and 40 Nm. While there are no mechanical changes to the engine, the final drive has been modified with two fewer teeth. This has been done taking into account the smaller wheel size and reduced weight. Although the lighter weight should make the bike feel quicker, the change in sprocket size may alter its overall feel. Check out our first ride review which goes live on July 27 for a more detailed assessment. All variants feature rider modes - Eco & Performance.
The riding posture on the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is slightly sporty, yet not overly aggressive. The handlebar is generously wide, similar to a scrambler, but the footpegs are slightly rear-set, akin to a streetfighter. The seat height has been lowered to 780mm, which is good news for shorter riders, who found the Himalayan 450 to be daunting. The seat features a single, stepped layout, this design choice may compromise the space available for the pillion rider.
The feature set on the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 varies across variants. The base Analog model is equipped with a semi-digital instrument cluster and the tripper navigation accessory is available as an optional extra. In contrast, the Flash and Dash variants have a 4-inch round TFT display with phone connectivity, enabling screen mirroring of maps and access to full Google Maps functionality on the dashboard, alongside other bike-related information. Additionally, these variants feature media controls and a USB-C charging port to ensure that the phone is charged on the move.
The frame on the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is a steel tubular twin-spar frame using the engine as a stressed member. This mounts to a chunky 43 mm telescopic fork and linkage monoshock at the rear. The suspension travel at the front is 140 mm whereas the rear has 10 mm more travel. This motorcycle runs on wider tubeless tyres mounted on 17-inch alloy wheels. The front tyres have a 310 mm disc with 120 section tyre whereas the rear has a 270 mm disc with 160 section tyre.
