Škoda Begins Production of Slavia Facelift at Chakan Plant

Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has commenced production of the updated Škoda Slavia sedan at its manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. Since its initial market launch, the Slavia nameplate has achieved nearly 80,000 unit sales in India.

Strategically timed ahead of the Indian festive season to capture peak market demand, the new Slavia introduces revised design touches, upgraded cabin technology, enhanced comfort amenities, and updated safety features.

Highlighting the development, Andreas Dick, Chief Production Officer at Škoda Auto, noted that India has become a central manufacturing hub within the company's international network, combining local expertise with global production standards. Piyush Arora, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SAVWIPL, added that the updated model builds upon the sedan's established driving dynamics, safety credentials, and engineering strengths with targeted convenience enhancements.

The updated Slavia introduces a segment-first rear-seat massage function, alongside upgraded displays: a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital driver's display (up from 8 inches), both featuring updated graphics and features. However, it retains a single-pane sunroof rather than upgrading to a panoramic option.

The biggest mechanical update on the facelifted version is the introduction of an 8-speed torque converter auto gearbox with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. The more powerful 1.5-litre TSI will continue to be paired with a 7-speed DCT auto gearbox.
