Skoda Auto India is planning to add ADAS to the Kushaq when the facelift comes in the near future, according to sources. Once the compact SUV gets it, likely later this year or early next year, this safety suite will be added to other Skoda models like the Kylaq and probably the Slavia too. Currently, none of the models in the brand’s lineup gets ADAS.
ADAS has been gaining popularity in recent times and a lot of customers are now demanding this safety suite. It’s only logical that Skoda should now add this to its cars, to help it salvage its dwindling sales. Skoda India’s sales are dwindling, with the Czech manufacturer registering a downfall of nearly 27 per cent in 2024. Last year, it produced 32,800 units which is a far cry from its targetted 1 lakh units annual sales.
Given the demand for ADAS, Skoda has already started testing the Kushaq with ADAS, as recent spy shots suggest. The test mule had camouflage on the front and rear sections with the side panels left bare, suggesting that the changes would only happen there. Interestingly, the test mule was seen abroad. The Kushaq is built in India and exported to markets like the Middle East, but the facelift will most likely be launched in our country first.
The Kushaq facelift will also likely get a revised fascia with a redesigned grille and headlamps. It is also expected to get new front and rear bumpers as well as a refreshed tailgate design. While the test mule had the same alloys as the current model, expect the facelift to get a fresh design for the alloy wheels.
While we tried speaking to dealers in Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and Delhi, about the facelifted Kushaq with ADAS, they were unable to provide any answers.
Once launched, the Kushaq will command a premium price over the current model which retails for ₹10.89 - 18.79 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It will also rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Tata Curvv, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Citroën Aircross, Citroën Basalt and Volkswagen Taigun. Only the first four models listed earlier get ADAS and the Kushaq will become the fifth model with the safety suite.
