Skoda emerged as the standout performer within the SAVWIPL portfolio, recording 107 per cent growth with 72,665 units sold in 2025 compared to 35,166 units in 2024.
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) closed 2025 with domestic sales of 117,000 units, marking a growth of 36 per cent compared to the previous year. Total sales, including exports, stood at 159,500 units during the year. The performance also coincided with SAVWIPL crossing the two million mark for vehicles manufactured in India.
The India-specific MQB-A0-IN platform continued to support the Group's expansion and now underpins all locally manufactured Skoda and Volkswagen models. Exports remained a key driver, with cumulative overseas shipments crossing 715,000 units, further establishing India as a strategic global production base for the Group.
Volkswagen maintained its leadership in the premium sedan segment, with the Virtus commanding a 38 per cent share year-to-date. The first batch of the Golf GTI sold out within days of launch. Skoda reported 107 per cent growth, driven by demand for the sub-four-metre Kylaq and the return of the Octavia RS. The Group expanded its customer network to around 700 touchpoints across India.

In the luxury segment, Audi introduced multiple new editions, including the Q7, Q3 and Q5 Signature models, along with the RSQ8 Performance. Lamborghini launched the Temerario, while the Revuelto was named Super Car of the Year. Porsche expanded its network to 13 points of sale. Bentley joined the SAVWIPL portfolio as the sixth brand, establishing dealerships in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi.
Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, stated that the Group's growth reflects consistent execution and the strength of its long-term India strategy. SAVWIPL plans multiple product launches in 2026 to sustain momentum, strengthen customer engagement and advance its sustainability agenda.
Skoda's Exceptional Growth Trajectory
Skoda emerged as the standout performer within the SAVWIPL portfolio, recording 107 per cent growth with 72,665 units sold in 2025 compared to 35,166 units in 2024. This marked the brand's strongest year since its entry into the Indian market in 2001. The brand's success was primarily driven by the introduction of the Kylaq, a sub-four-metre SUV that delivered over 20,000 units by mid-2025 and contributed significantly to the brand's portfolio expansion.

The Kylaq's impact was particularly significant as it allowed Skoda to penetrate the compact SUV segment, a space that traditionally attracts high-volume buyers in India. Beyond the Kylaq, the reintroduction of the Octavia RS generated strong interest, with all 100 units allocated for India being purchased immediately after bookings opened. The Kushaq and Slavia continued to sustain demand, ensuring Skoda maintained momentum across its range.

Volkswagen's performance remained steady, maintaining dominance in the premium sedan segment where the Virtus held a 38 per cent market share year-to-date. The Virtus recorded its highest monthly sales of 2,453 units in October 2025. Additionally, the launch of the Golf GTI saw its initial allocation sold out within days, indicating strong customer enthusiasm for performance variants.auto.economictimes.

SAVWIPL significantly expanded its dealer and service network to 700 customer touchpoints in 2025. The workforce supporting these operations exceeded 7,500 personnel, with over 25,000 training days completed during the year. On the export front, cumulative overseas shipments surpassed 715,000 units, with the Group entering and exploring new markets in the GCC and ASEAN regions during 2025.auto.economictimes.
The year marked the entry of Bentley as the sixth brand under SAVWIPL, joining an already strong luxury portfolio comprising Audi, Lamborghini and Porsche. Audi introduced multiple Signature editions of the Q7, Q3 and Q5, along with the high-performance RSQ8. Lamborghini's Temerario launch and the Revuelto's recognition as Super Car of the Year further enhanced the Group's position in the premium market.
The 36 per cent growth in domestic sales and crossing of the two-million made-in-India vehicles milestone underscores the effectiveness of SAVWIPL's localisation and manufacturing strategy. The consistent performance demonstrates that the Group's approach of developing India-specific products, such as the Kylaq, whilst maintaining globally recognised models, resonates with Indian consumers. With multiple product launches planned for 2026, including the refreshed Kushaq facelift, the Group aims to build on this momentum and further strengthen India's role as a strategic global manufacturing hub.
