The automaker's upcoming range-topping model is scheduled for its global unveiling this summer, it confirmed on Tuesday, bearing the name "Peaq".
In spring 2022, Czech automobile maker Skoda unveiled its Modern Solid design philosophy through the Vision 7S concept vehicle. The showcase offered a preview of an upcoming all-electric seven-seat production vehicle. The automaker's upcoming range-topping model is scheduled for its global unveiling this summer, it confirmed on Tuesday, bearing a name that emphasises its premium positioning within the Czech manufacturer's line-up: "Peaq".
More than three years following the Vision 7S concept's debut, which established the strategic direction for Skoda's model portfolio development, the new fully electric seven-seater will carry the Peaq designation.
The Peaq has been engineered with particular emphasis on the auto manufacturer's established and valued brand principles: spaciousness, functionality and passenger comfort, according to the company.
Likely to function essentially as an electric counterpart to the Skoda Kodiaq, the vehicle will compete against comparable seven-seat electric vehicles including the Peugeot e-5008 and Mercedes-Benz GLB, Autocar UK has reported.
The Peaq is projected to become Skoda's highest-priced offering to date, positioned above the five-seat Enyaq EV, which retails from just under £40,000.
However, it is likely to maintain considerably more competitive pricing compared with premium alternatives such as the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Volvo EX90.
Featuring seven seats, the cabin is designed to appeal to families and individuals seeking to blend professional activities, recreational pursuits, and travel exploration opportunities. Centring user convenience and carefully considered Simply Clever innovations within its design framework, the Peaq represents another significant achievement in the expansion of Skoda's electric vehicle portfolio.
