Leapmotor is already present in countries such as Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Romania, France, Italy, Nepal, Thailand and a few others.
Back in August last year, Acko Drive reported that Stellantis will bring a new EV-only passenger vehicle brand named Leapmotor to India. Leapmotor now moves one step closer to market launch as the Chinese has filed its first patent for its B10 electric SUV in India. The application dated 28 November 2024, has now received approval from the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trademarks.
Leapmotor will be the fourth brand under Stellantis in India after Jeep, Citroen, and Maserati. The operations are likely to be handled by Leapmotor International, a Stellantis-led joint venture overseeing markets outside China. The initial strategy involves introducing models through the CKD route, with assembly expected to take place at Stellantis’ Ranjangaon facility. The extent of localisation will depend on market response and overall business viability.
The Leapmotor B10 is based on the brand’s 3.5 platform and comes with all-electric and range-extender powertrains globally, although the Indian market will only receive the former. The patent reveals a completely flat underbody which indicates that the vehicle is underpinned by a dedicated EV architecture.

In terms of design, the patent images reveal that the B10 carries a clean and modern look with slim LED light bars at the front and rear, flush door handles and smooth body panels. The styling is similar to the larger C10 SUV, with a focus on simplicity and clean lines rather than aggressive detailing.
Inside, the cabin adopts a minimalist layout, with a large central display taking centre stage on the dashboard. The feature list includes a 14.6-inch 2.5K floating touchscreen embedded with a Qualcomm Snapdragon-based infotainment system, 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, panoramic glass roof, wireless phone charging, and an NFC/Bluetooth key.

On the comfort front, the B10 offers reclining front seats, along with heated and ventilated functions on higher trims, ambient lighting and a premium multi-speaker sound system. It also gets a smartphone holder with integrated charging slots, while connected car features via the Leapmotor app enhance everyday usability.

When it comes to safety, the B10 electric SUV comes equipped with a 360-degree camera and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that offers up to 17 active safety features. Leapmotor claims that the B10 electric SUV has achieved a 5-star safety rating in Australia New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) safety rating in international markets.
The exact powertrain options for the India-spec model have not been disclosed yet. However, in international markets, it is offered in multiple variants producing 177 bhp, 214 bhp and 228 bhp. Globally, the Leapmotor B10 comes with two battery pack options: a 56.2 kWh unit delivering a claimed range of 500 km, and a larger 67.1 kWh pack offering up to 600 km on a single charge.
