Suzuki has quite the ambitious plans in place for its debut electric scooter.
Suzuki India has confirmed that its debut electric scooter, the e-Access, will launch in the coming few weeks in June. Whilst it has not revealed any official date yet, we expect it will be in the first half of the month. This confirmation comes barely a few days after it commenced manufacturing of the electric scooter at its Gurugram plant. The initial batch has already started to roll off the production line and will start to reach a select few showrooms soon. Suzuki India will retail the e-Access through all its 1,150+ outlets located across India. This is quite an ambitious plan, especially when compared with Honda, which decided to retail the Activa e in a phased manner, starting with just three cities (Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai).
The Suzuki e-Access was showcased in the country earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. It features a conventional body design but in a much more modern and evolved look than its ICE sibling. The e-Access will bear a 3.07 kWh LFP battery powering a 4.1 kW electric motor that produces 15 Nm. It will offer an IDC-claimed range of just 95 km, which in the real world will translate to somewhere between 75-80 km, depending on the tuning of the power delivery. It will be capable to do a top speed of 71 kmph.
To support the sales of the e-Access, Suzuki also revealed that all its outlets will support standard charging facilities by June 2025. Fast chargers will also be installed at these facilities, but that will be limited to the top 30 cities initially (by June 25), which generate the most EV sales. These 30 cities will also have EV-specific tools and EV-specific technicians readily available by next month, and will later expand to other cities and outlets by the end of this year. To further ensure a hassle-free ownership experience, Suzuki will also provide extended warranty and buyback scheme (similar to an exchange scheme).
