The MoU aims to create more business opportunities for India and Japan.
Suzuki Motor Corporation, along with its subsidiary Next Bharat Ventures IFSC, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the city of Hamamatsu in Japan. With the MoU, Suzuki and Next Bharat will help promote industrial collaboration. The MoU was signed at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad.
Next Bharat is Suzuki’s subsidiary in India, established to “solve societal issues through business by supporting societal entrepreneurs in India." Hamamatsu is also working on supporting the startups, and because of the MoU, the entities will help create more business opportunities in India and Japan by exchanging human resources and creating business opportunities.
Hamamatsu is also home to big automotive OEMs like Suzuki, Yamaha, and Honda. The collaboration between the city in Japan and Suzuki builds on the relationship Suzuki has with IIT Hyderabad. The Institute has a Suzuki Innovation Centre and a student internship programme with the Japanese auto giant.
Yusuke Nakano, mayor of Hamamatsu City, said, “India is at the centre of global attention for its economic growth as well as innovation. Through this initiative, we want to bring effective solutions and support start-ups.” Nakano also said these innovations also need to reach rural India, which requires such innovations the most.
