SWITCH Mobility Secures Order for 840 Electric Buses for Delhi Public Transit Fleet

SWITCH Mobility, the electric vehicle arm of the Hinduja Group, has secured a landmark order to supply 840 electric buses to Antony Road Transport Solutions under Phase I of the Government of India's PM E-Drive scheme tender. The zero-emission fleet will be deployed across the National Capital Territory of Delhi in collaboration with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and the Transport Department, Delhi, significantly boosting the capital's green public transit infrastructure.

The order is split evenly between 420 nine-metre and 420 twelve-metre air-conditioned electric buses. Antony Road Transport Solutions was selected as the official operator for Delhi under the Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) managed PM E-Drive scheme Phase I tender. Following the operator selection, SWITCH Mobility and Antony Road Transport Solutions formally executed the deployment agreement. Ganesh Mani, CEO of SWITCH Mobility, stated that deploying two distinct bus lengths will enable DTC and the Transport Department to efficiently address varying passenger traffic requirements across urban routes.

Highlighting the agreement, Jimmy John, Director at Antony Road Transport Solutions, noted that the company's long-standing relationship with Ashok Leyland and its trust in the Hinduja Group were central to placing the order. Built on SWITCH's proprietary EiV platform, the electric buses feature modular battery configurations, advanced electric powertrains, and regenerative braking. The vehicles are equipped with dual-gun fast-charging technology, engineered to minimise charging turnaround time and maximise daily fleet utilisation.

Designed with urban commuters in mind, the buses feature low-floor access, ergonomic seating, and individual USB charging ports. Safety systems include multi-level battery protection alongside automated fire detection and suppression equipment. Additionally, the entire fleet will integrate the SWITCH iON telematics platform, enabling real-time remote diagnostics, live vehicle tracking, and automated fleet management for Delhi's public transport system.
