Some Tata Motors dealerships have started accepting bookings for the Altroz Racer before its launch in June 2024.
Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Altroz Racer in India in June 2024. Ahead of that, a few dealerships have started accepting bookings unofficially. The Altroz Racer can be booked by paying a token amount of ₹11,000, depending on the dealerships.
The Altroz Racer will be a performance-oriented version of the Tata Altroz, much like the i20 N Line is the performance-oriented version of the Hyundai i20. However, unlike the i20 N Line, the Racer version will have a bit more power and torque compared to the standard Altroz.
Under the hood, the Altroz Racer is likely to get the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Nexon and will produce 118 bhp and 170 Nm. These figures are similar to the i20 N Line but the Hyundai makes 2 Nm more. The Altroz Racer is likely to get a 6-speed manual gearbox and some dealer sources say it is also likely to get a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. However, take this information with a pinch of salt.
In terms of design, the Altroz Racer will be slightly different to the standard model. The biggest difference will be the addition of a dual-tone paint scheme with twin racing stripes, slightly different alloy wheels, ‘Racer’ badges on the outside and minimal use of chrome.
Inside, the Altroz Racer is likely to come with an all-black interior theme with contrast stitching and body-coloured accents. It is also expected to debut with the 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen that has been a long time coming for the Altroz. Other features are likely to include a 360-degree camera, a head-up display, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a sunroof, a wireless charger and rear AC vents. For safety, it is expected to get six airbags, ESC, ISOFIX anchorages and more.
The Altroz is currently priced between ₹6.65 - 10.65 lakh and expect the Racer variant to be priced somewhere between ₹9.5 - 11 lakh. In comparison, the Hyundai i20 N Line – the Altroz Racer’s primary competitor – retails between ₹10 - 12.52 lakh. (All prices ex-showroom, India)
