Tata Tiago, Tigor and Altroz models registered domestic sales of 33,918 units during Q2 FY26.
The compact sport utility vehicle segment of Tata Motors saw robust performance during the second quarter (Q2) of FY2026, with its flagship models establishing a strong foothold in India's domestic automotive market. Data submitted to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) by the OEM reveals that Tata Punch and Nexon models collectively hit sales of 86,782 units in the domestic market during the three-month period spanning July through September 2025.
The Tata Nexon stood out by capturing the top position among all passenger vehicles sold in India in September 2025, while the Punch secured the fifth spot in monthly sales rankings, highlighting the strength of Tata Motors' compact SUV strategy.
Beyond its SUV offerings, the automaker's compact passenger car lineup experienced notable expansion. The portfolio comprising the Tiago, Tigor, and Altroz models registered domestic sales of 33,918 units during Q2 FY26, marking a substantial increase compared to the 27,391 units recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
This upward trend signals persistent consumer interest in the entry-level and compact car categories, even as market preferences increasingly favor SUV body styles.
The company's premium SUV offerings also witnessed positive momentum during the quarter. Combined sales of the Tata Safari and Harrier models reached 14,215 units, surpassing the 11,187 units sold in the July-September 2024 period. This performance indicates growing consumer appetite in the higher-end SUV segment.
Tata Motors' commercial vehicle operations recorded consistent results during Q2 FY26, with its small commercial vehicle and pickup segments leading the charge. The N1-A1 category, encompassing the Ace product range, achieved domestic sales of 19,997 units, compared to 18,867 units in the year-ago quarter. Meanwhile, the N1-A2 segment, which includes models such as the Yodha and Intra, posted sales of 14,735 units, up from 12,532 units in the same period last year.
