Tata cars are set to get more expensive from September 1, 2026.

Tata Motors has announced that it will implement a nationwide price increase across its entire car and SUV portfolio starting September 1. Under the revised pricing structure, vehicle costs will rise by up to ₹25,000, with the exact financial adjustment varying based on the specific vehicle model and variant. The portfolio-wide increase affects both internal combustion engine models and electric offerings.

Explaining the rationale behind the decision, the automaker stated that the price adjustment is necessary to partially offset mounting input costs, elevated operating expenses, and persistent commodity inflation. These domestic financial pressures have been further exacerbated by ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and widespread disruptions across global trade and energy markets stemming from the war involving Iran.

Tata Motors highlighted that although it actively sought to absorb these escalating manufacturing expenses internally over recent months, the sustained nature of the cost inflation forced the company to transfer a portion of the cost burden to buyers.

Tata isn’t the only company implementing a price hike from September 1. Recently, even Hyundai Motor India said that it will increase prices across its vehicle lineup by up to 1% starting September 2026. The South Korean automaker attributed the hike to escalating input and raw material expenses, rising operational overheads, and ongoing geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainties.
