The pre-bookings for the entry-level EV have commenced at an initial token amount of Rs. 21,000.
Tata Motors has revealed its latest EV, the Punch.ev ahead of its official launch later this month. The company has also commenced the pre-bookings for the entry-level EV at an initial token amount of Rs. 21,000. But the big news here is that the upcoming Tata Punch.ev is based on the company’s new advanced Pure EV architecture – acti.ev (Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle) and will underpin future products from the company’s EV portfolio. Additionally, this new platform will also spawn a variety of products with multiple body styles and sizes.
The upcoming Tata Punch.ev will be available in two versions- a standard and a long-range model, akin to the Tata Nexon.ev. To be offered in 3 trims- Empowered+, Empowered and Adventure, the upcoming Tata Punch.ev will be the most affordable EV to be offered by the company, rivalling the Citroen eC3 as well as the MG Comet now, which was earlier pitted against the Tata Tiago.ev. Expect the price to hover around Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The Punch EV's front profile exhibits design elements reminiscent of the recently introduced Nexon EV, showcasing a continuous LED light strip along the bonnet line, concealing the charging flap beneath the Tata logo. Noteworthy features include split LED headlamps integrated into the front bumper, a vertical slat-patterned lower grille, and a silver faux skid plate. Additionally, the EV boasts a blacked-out roof, ORVMs, and alloy wheels for a cohesive aesthetic.
In terms of features, the Punch EV is anticipated to incorporate a comprehensive package, encompassing a sizable touchscreen infotainment system, seamless wireless connectivity for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a redesigned steering wheel, an all-digital instrument cluster, and the added convenience of a 360-degree surround camera.
From a mechanical standpoint, the Tata Punch is poised to offer versatility through two battery pack options, ensuring a minimum driving range of 300 km. Furthermore, it is built upon the latest second-generation pure EV architecture developed by the brand.
