Tata Punch EV has one direct rival in the form of Citroen eC3 and other higher and more premium alternatives like Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, and MG Windsor EV.

Tata Motors has launched the Punch EV facelift at an introductory price starting at ₹9.69 lakh and going up to ₹12.59 lakh (both ex-showroom). In addition to the standard pricing, the company has introduced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme for the Punch EV, with prices starting at ₹6.49 lakh (ex-showroom), plus a battery subscription cost of ₹2.6 per km.

In the facelifted iteration, the Tata Punch EV comes with two battery pack options: 30 kWh and 40 kWh. The latter claims an ARAI-rated range of 468 km and a real-world range of 355 km on a single charge.  In addition to the new battery pack, the updated Tata Punch EV now supports faster 65 kW DC charging, enabling the battery to recharge from 20 to 80 percent in just 26 minutes. In practical terms, this DC fast charger can add up to 135 km of range in 15 minutes.

Alongside DC fast charging, Tata offers two AC charging options: a 7.2 kW wall box charger and a 3.3 kW home charger. The battery powers a 95 kW (127 bhp) electric motor delivering claimed wheel torque of over 2,000 Nm. Performance-wise, the new Punch EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in under 9 seconds. Let us look at how these specs compare against some of its known rivals in the market.

  1. Citroen eC3

The Citroen eC3 is arguably the closest rival to the Punch EV when it comes to price, size, and specifications. The eC3 is priced between ₹12.90 lakh and ₹13.41 lakh (both ex-showroom). It is powered by a 29.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack paired with a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing about 56 bhp and 143 Nm of torque. The setup delivers a claimed range of approximately 320 km on a single charge and supports both AC and DC fast charging.

Even though the Nexon EV sits on top of the Punch EV in the Tata.ev lineup, prices continue to overlap. The latest version of the Nexon EV is priced between ₹12.49 lakh and ₹17.49 lakh (both ex-showroom). It is offered with two lithium-ion battery options: a 30 kWh pack delivering a claimed range of around 275 km, and a larger 45 kWh unit offering up to 489 km on a single charge. Both versions use a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing up to 148 bhp and 215 Nm of torque.

3. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV

Like the Tata Nexon EV, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV sits a segment above the Punch EV with ₹13.89 lakh and ₹14.96 lakh (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 39.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack paired with a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing about 148 bhp and 310 Nm of torque. The setup delivers brisk performance, enabling 0–100 kmph in about 8.3 seconds, while offering a real-world range of roughly 285 km on full charge.

4. MG Windsor EV

MG Windsor EV was the highest-selling electric car in India in 2025. The battery-powered crossover actually sits two segments higher than the Punch EV as it is priced between ₹14 lakh and ₹18.50 lakh (both ex-showroom). It is powered by a 38 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, delivering a claimed range of about 331 km. Larger 52.9 kWh battery variants are also available, extending the range to roughly 449 km while retaining similar motor output.
