The new Tata Sierra has crossed 10,000 deliveries in India, with bookings already surpassing 1 lakh units.
Tata Motors has announced that the Sierra has crossed the 10,000-unit delivery milestone within 47 days of commencing customer handovers. Deliveries began on January 15, and the SUV has recorded strong early traction in the domestic market.
The company had earlier revealed that it received over 70,000 bookings within 24 hours of opening reservations for the Sierra. According to recent updates, cumulative bookings have exceeded the 1 lakh mark, underlining sustained consumer interest.
Waiting periods currently range from three to seven months, depending on variant and dealership allocation.
In January, Tata Motors dispatched 7,003 units of the Sierra. During the same period, Hyundai recorded 17,291 units of the Creta, including both ICE and EV versions. The Kia Seltos registered 10,639 units, while the Maruti Suzuki India Grand Vitara posted 7,030 units.
The Sierra’s rapid start has prompted discussions about its potential to challenge the long-standing dominance of the Hyundai Creta in the mid-size SUV segment. However, sustaining momentum will depend on Tata Motors’ ability to ramp up production and meet demand consistently.
Competition in the segment is also intensifying. The upcoming next-generation Renault Duster, powered by a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 162 bhp and 280 Nm, is expected to strengthen the segment further. Additionally, the facelifted Skoda Kushaq is slated for launch this month, adding to the competitive landscape.
