Tecno Unveils Three New Camera Technologies At Future Lens 2023 Event

Tecno recently hosted its annual Future Lens 2023 event in Shanghai, unveiling three new camera technologies to enhance imaging and mobile photography.

The W-shaped Adjustable Physical Aperture, uses a novel aperture design that can be manually adjusted by the user. It allows for more precise light management over fixed apertures on other phones. Tecno claims this balanced exposure in high-contrast backlit scenes without shadows or glares.

Tecno also unveiled the Liquid Telephoto Macro Lens, which integrates liquid lens technology into a periscope telephoto camera. It brings macro photography with long focal lengths while maintaining a compact form factor. Through voltage control of the lens curvature, Tecno says it achieves better autofocus speeds and zoom performance than traditional motors.

Next up was Universal Tone, billed as the most advanced skin tone technology yet. It leverages comprehensive skin tone data and is developed through extensive research with global universities. Three AI engines work simultaneously to capture diverse complexions accurately and vibrantly in portraits and videos.

It remains to be seen how Tecno's new imaging breakthroughs perform in real life. We expect to see Adjustable Physical Aperture, Liquid Telephoto Macro Lens and Universal Tone to feature in Tecno's upcoming slate of 2024 phones.
