Years after showing the Cybertruck concept, Tesla has finally started deliveries of the production model from its Gigafactory in Texas. The Cybertruck is available in three variants – Rear-wheel drive, All-wheel drive and Cyberbeast.
Tesla is offering three powertrain options – a rear-motor setup, a dual-motor setup and a tri-motor setup. The first is expected to arrive sometime in 2025 and will have an estimated range of around 400km on a single charge. Tesla hasn’t divulged much information about this variant but says it will have a 0-96 kmph time of 6.5 seconds.
The dual-motor all-wheel drive variant has a claimed range of around 550 km and with the range extender kit, it has a range of more than 755 km. Tesla claims this variant has a towing capacity of nearly 5,000 kg and it weighs 2,995 kg. It is also said to have a 0-96 kmph time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 180 kmph (both claimed). Using a 250 kW Tesla Supercharger, nearly 220 km of range can be added in just 15 minutes.
Tesla claims the Cyberbeast variant has a range of around 515 km and with the range extender kit, it can go up to 708 km. While it has the same towing capacity as the All-wheel drive variant, it weighs slightly more at 3,104 kg. Tesla claims the Cyberbeast variant has a 0-96 kmph time of 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 209 kmph. Like the All-wheel drive variant, the Cyberbeast can add a range of 206 km in 15 minutes using the 250 kW Tesla Supercharger.
The production-spec Cybertruck looks very similar to the concept shown in 2019. It has the same wedge-shaped design as the concept but looks more refined. It still retains the full-width LED light bars in the front and rear and has the same alloy wheels. The Cybertruck measures 5,682 mm in length, 2,413 mm in width and 1,791 mm in height, with a maximum ground clearance of 443 mm in Extract Mode. The Cybertruck also has a rolling tonneau cover for the pickup bed.
Like all Teslas, the Cybertruck also has a minimalistic interior with a big, 18.5-inch touchscreen taking centre stage and controlling all of the car’s functions. The Cybertruck also has a 9.4-inch touchscreen for the rear passengers. It has a massive glass roof covering the entire interior and the Cybertruck has seating for five passengers.
The Cybertruck also has 120V and 240V V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) charging ports along with two wireless charging pads in the front and 65 W USB-C ports. Tesla claims the Cybertruck can provide up to 11.5 kW of power to a user’s house in case of a power outage.
In the US, prices for the base, rear-wheel drive variant start at $49,890 (roughly ₹41.57 lakh). The all-wheel drive variant starts at $68,890 (roughly ₹58.24 lakh) and the Cyberbeast variant starts at $96,390 (roughly ₹80.32 lakh).
