This will be Tesla’s official touchpoint for prospective customers in Bengaluru, ahead of its official showroom opening.
Tesla has confirmed plans to open its next Experience Centre and Superchargers in Bengaluru, but before that happens, residents will be able to check out the Tesla Model Y in person at a pop-up event scheduled from January 15 to 31 at the ACKO Drive Service Centre in Kudlu Gate. This will be Tesla’s first temporary pop-up experience in India, and its first official touchpoint for prospective customers in Bengaluru.
Four Tesla Model Y units will be on display, and test drives will be available. Visitors will also be able to get a guided walkaround as well as check out immersive product experiences to get an idea of the cars’ design, technology, features, and performance. The company will be hoping to spur demand as it expands slowly to new regions in India.
Tesla officially introduced the Model Y, its sole offering in India thus far, in July 2025. The launch followed several years of delays and cancelled plans, which CEO Elon Musk blamed on the country’s tough import restrictions. The company now has its own Experience Centres and Supercharger stalls in Mumbai, New Delhi, and Gurugram.
The Tesla Model Y is priced at ₹59.89 lakh for the base RWD variant, and ₹67.89 lakh for the Long Range RWD variant (all prices ex-showroom). Interested buyers will have to pay ₹6 lakh more for the Full Self Driving package at the time of purchase, even though it isn’t available for use in India yet. Other interior and exterior colour options are also priced at a premium of up to ₹1,85,000 each.
WLTP-rated range is 500 km and 661 km respectively for the two variants. The company claims 15 minutes of Supercharging can add up to 238 km and 267 km of range respectively. The Model Y can accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in 5.9 seconds. Top speed is 201 kmph.
Both variants in India feature a 9-speaker audio system, 15.4-inch central infotainment touchscreen and 8-inch rear seat touchscreen, heated and ventilated front seats, wraparound ambient lighting, eight exterior cameras, and an air filtration system. Safety features include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warnings, blind spot collision warnings, and lane departure avoidance.
In its official announcement of the Bengaluru popup, Tesla describes the Model Y as “the world’s best-selling vehicle in 2023 and 2024”. In late December, CEO Elon Musk had controversially claimed on X, the social media site he also owns, that the Model Y was also the world’s best-selling car in 2025. In early January, data released by leading global carmakers showed that BYD had beaten Tesla to become the world's top EV manufacturer by sales volume.
