Most robotics experts are skeptical of Optimus, believing it is not credible. But Musk says it is revolutionary, leveraging Tesla's self-driving computer vision tech via its Dojo supercomputer.
Optimus was first revealed at Tesla's 2021 AI event, barely able to walk. At this year's shareholder meeting, Tesla showed more advanced prototypes performing useful tasks.
The new video showcases Optimus autonomously sorting objects, but appears CG. Tesla says it now trains on neural nets end-to-end.
The mechanics also look more refined as the prototype balances on one foot during its Namaste greeting.
Musk is very bullish on Optimus, calling it extremely underrated. He predicts demand could reach 20 billion units, saying it could be a majority of Tesla's long-term value.
There is no timeline yet for market launch as Tesla will first use Optimus internally.
