Tesla has recently started selling its Wireless Charging Platform, which is a large, multi-device wireless charging pad that does exactly what Apple's ill-fated AirPower couldn't do. The Tesla charger can charge up to three devices at once and is available for purchase on the Tesla online store for $300.
Constructed of aluminium, the charger is quite heavy, weighing 747 grams, and 1,026 grams when a magnetic stand is attached. Its size is similar to that of a folded letter-sized sheet of paper. The surface is lined with alcantara microsuede, which hides 30 overlapping coils arranged in four layers. This allows it to charge any device nearly anywhere within the pad without needing perfect alignment.
While the charger has been designed by Tesla, its technology is by FreePower, which also makes the technology behind Nomad's Base Station Pro charger. The wireless charging pad features angular lines reminiscent of the Tesla Cybertruck with its black-on-black branding.
There is also a 65W USB-C GaN charger. Android phones can be charged at 15W, while the iPhone can be charged at 7.5W. However, this wireless charging pad cannot charge any smartwatch, including the Apple Watch.
