From reverse psychology to embracing the absurd, the auto industry has never shied away from April Fools' Day fun!

Even as the world grapples with serious topics, April Fools' day allows for a little bit of silliness and levity. Pranks range from simple puns to elaborate productions, and the auto industry is well known for joining in on the fun. Here are some of the best April Fools' Day 2026 social media posts we've seen from car and bike brands, both Indian and international. We'll be updating this list through the day to keep you entertained!

Audi India's social media post was a pretty obvious April Fools' Day joke, but the concept of using chopsticks as a metaphor for its cars' precise grip and handling is unique and memorable.

JSW MG Motor India took the opportunity to put up a LinkedIn post saying it was hiring seat testers. Selected candidates would have to simply enjoy sitting, with breaks and refreshments provided. The post was quickly followed by the reveal that was a lighthearted way of promoting not only the comfort of its seats, but also how thorough the company is at testing them.

This rather obvious AI video from BMW Motorrad shows a purportedly modified S1000RR superbike designed with a table that extrudes from its fairing at the touch of a button. Does fast food really help sell the idea of a fast bike?

Along with that, BMW Motorrad India has put up its own prank post advertising "auto ride mode" which dispenses with the rider entirely.

Hyundai Korea has teased the Caaaaasper, a purported stretch version of its smallest ever model, the Casper city car. The humourous video shows various ways this fictitious limousine could be customised to use all its interior space. Interestingly, Hyundai is actually set to unveil a new "big" model today at the New York International Auto Show.

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is exported from India to many parts of the world, but Suzuki Australia has come up with its own new model - the Jimny Flexl! It promises a 0.0m turning radius and if it was real, it would be able to take off-roading to a whole new level.

Tata Motors wants to tell everyone that its SUVs are fuel efficient... by saying the exact opposite. The Safari and Harrier star in this poster that people will hopefully read with the appropriate context after today.

The MG Cyberster is already turning heads — after all, it won our 2026 Car Design TOTM at the ACKO Drive Awards — and now the MG Select division has come up with "mood detection" so it can make the driver feel at ease in any situation. Could this tech someday become reality? It might not be that far-fetched.

Honda thinks that fans of its BigWing models might jump at the chance to smell like grease, petrol and leather even when they're nowhere near their dream machines. It's not likely that anyone else would fall for this prank!

BMW decided to play along with the long-running joke that BMW owners never use turn indicators. Hopefully fans and owners don't mind the company poking fun at them!

Mercedes-Benz India's lighthearted "invisibility mode" feature could help people sneak around, but it's not likely that anyone will really fall for this prank.

This post by Yezdi is actually a subtle prank, and we were almost tricked into trying to swipe!

Just in time for NASA's first manned moon mission in 50 years, Skoda has unveiled the Luniq rover — stay tuned to ACKO drive for our exclusive review, the first ever in space!

Leapmotor went as far as to issue a serious-sounding press release with details of its new "leap mode", a free downloadable over-the-air update for its C10 SUV. It promises to make rides smoother by simply levitating over potholes, speedbreakers and other obstacles for up to two seconds at a time. The feature can be voice-activated, and the company even helpfully suggests doing so with a "dramatic flourish". If only this was real...

MINI Australia teased a pickup truck, the MINI Bushman, with a familiar-looking front and a very uncharacteristic back. Unsurprisingly, the comments were full of people asking for this to be launched for real.

Not quite a carmaker (yet?) but Lego announced on April 1 that it is jumping into the game with a fully functional electric sedan. While not made entirely out of Lego bricks, the concept does have several design touches that would be familiar to enthusiasts of the little plastic blocks. It isn't real, but it would have been fun!
