This means that the current model will continue production for another two years, and the grand transition will happen in 2025.
According to Best Car Magazine, the next Nissan Skyline will not only be an electric car, but also an electric SUV, similar to the electric Ford Mustang. The Skyline is an iconic car in Japan and globally recognised as Nissan's most well-known car. It has been in production since 1957 and is currently in its 13th generation, which was launched almost a decade ago in 2014.
A new Skyline has been in development for some time now, but last year Nissan changed track and decided to turn it into an SUV. This means that the current model will continue production for another two years, and the grand transition will happen in 2025.
Although it might seem strange to associate the Skyline name with an SUV form-factor and electric propulsion, Nissan previously experimented with a crossover in 2009 called the Nissan Skyline Crossover.
The good news is that the Skyline will be more powerful than the Ariya, which has 389 horsepower. Due to obvious reasons, the Skyline could have more than 400 bhp in a dual motor setup. This could result in a faster 0-100 kmph time than the Ariya, which does it in 5.1 seconds.
