Hero Remains Dominant, Other Manufacturers Witness Significant YoY Growth
Two-wheeler sales in India saw a positive start to 2024. With all major brands recording year-on-year growth in January.

Hero MotoCorp cemented its position as the undisputed leader, selling a whopping 4,20,934 units in January, marking a 20.4 percent growth compared to the same period last year.

This comes on the heels of their historic podium finish at the Dakar Rally, further solidifying their brand image.

Honda followed closely at the second spot, selling 3,82,512 units. Their popular Activa scooter remains a bestseller, but they haven't yet dethroned Hero from the top position. However, their impressive 37.5 percent year-on-year growth showcases their strong presence in the Indian market.

TVS Motors grabbed the third spot with 2,68,233 units sold, showcasing a commendable 23.9 percent year-on-year growth. Their diverse offerings across various segments continue to resonate with a wider audience, solidifying their position as the third largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India.

Bajaj Auto secured the fourth position with 1,93,350 units sold, boasting an impressive 35.8 percent year-on-year growth. Their popular Pulsar range remains a dominant force. A lot of changes have been seen in the Pulsar lineup and you can read about them here

Suzuki Motor Corporation rounded out the top five with 80,511 units sold, registering a healthy 21.6 percent year-on-year growth. This has been sadly shadowed by the recall on the 250 range that was recently announced.

Overall, the January sales figures paint a picture of a thriving two-wheeler market in India. As the industry continues to grapple with high taxation and material costs, it is still great to see motorcycle manufacturers doing healthy numbers consistently. We hope that this continues and we get to see more interesting motorcycles in the coming few months.
