Toyota has surpassed 3 lakh hybrid vehicle sales in India. The brand’s current hybrid lineup includes four models across different price segments.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has achieved a major landmark in the Indian automotive market by recording cumulative sales of 3 lakh hybrid vehicles. This milestone, announced on 19 May 2026, highlights the increasing consumer preference for self charging hybrid electric technology and underscores the manufacturer's commitment to a multi pathway approach toward carbon neutrality.

The company currently offers a diverse portfolio of hybrid models in India, including the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Innova Hycross, Camry Hybrid, and the premium Vellfire. According to the manufacturer, the success of these vehicles is driven by their superior fuel efficiency and lower emissions compared to traditional internal combustion engines. The self charging system, which utilises regenerative braking and engine power to charge the battery, has been particularly well received as it eliminates range anxiety and the need for external charging infrastructure.

Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, stated that the achievement reflects growing customer trust in the brand's electrification strategy. He noted that hybrid technology serves as a critical bridge for the Indian market, allowing motorists to adopt greener mobility without compromising on performance or convenience. To further support long term ownership confidence, the company provides an eight year warranty on its hybrid batteries.

Operating from its manufacturing base in Bidadi, Karnataka, the company has a total installed production capacity of 3,42,000 units across two plants. While the firm continues to promote hybrids as a practical solution for mass electrification, its broader vision includes the future development of plug-in hybrids, battery electric vehicles, and fuel cell technology. This sales milestone reinforces the position of the brand as a leader in the electrified vehicle segment in India, as the industry moves closer to national carbon neutrality targets.
