Toyota Kirloskar Motorof the Urban Cruiser Ebella on 20 January 2026, marking the company's entry into India's battery electric vehicle market. The vehicle is now open for bookings, with pricing to be announced at a later date.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella comes with two battery options: a 49 kWh battery and a 61 kWh battery. The larger battery pack produces 172 bhp and 189 Nm of torque, offering a driving range of 543 km on a single charge, as certified by the Automotive Research Association of India.
The vehicle measures 5200 mm in length and features an 18-inch alloy wheel set. The cabin includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The vehicle offers 12 ambient lighting colour options, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic roof. Panoramic roof is available. Rear seats can slide and recline. The sound system comes from JBL.

The Urban Cruiser Ebella comes with seven airbags and includes level 2 ADAS technology. Features include automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. A 360-degree camera and parking sensors are also fitted.
The vehicle supports both AC and DC fast charging, using the CCS2 charging standard. The charging system includes remote operation and battery monitoring through Toyota's i-Connect platform.

Toyota offers an 8-year battery warranty with the purchase. The company also provides an assured buyback program offering up to 60 per cent of the purchase value after three years. A Battery-as-a-Service option is also available.
Toyota operates 500 service centres equipped for battery electric vehicles. The company has 2,500 technicians trained in electric vehicle maintenance across its network.
The vehicle is offered in five single-tone colours and four dual-tone options. Buyers can add accessories including side moulding, garnishes, and exterior detailing.
The announcement comes as India seeks to increase the adoption of electric vehicles to support its energy security and decarbonisation goals.
