To commemorate the occasion, Triumph unveiled the new Tiger 900 and launched the Bonneville Stealth Editions at IBW 2023.
Triumph India has completed 10 years in India and to celebrate the occasion, the British marquee unveiled the 2024 Tiger 900 and rode in the new Bonneville Stealth Editions at the India Bike Week 2023.
The brand started its India innings with the Bonneville T100, Bonneville T120, Thruxton, Tiger 800 XC, Tiger Explorer, Speed Triple 1050 and Rocket III. While it made its India debut in 2013, it had been conducting market surveys many years prior to it to understand the needs of Indian premium bike customers. Triumph’s journey began in 2013 when it opened its first dealership in Bengaluru, Karnataka and 14 other dealerships across India. Since then, Triumph has opened 52 dealerships in more than 40 cities across the country and plans to reach more than 100 cities by April 2024.
Triumph launched a slew of new products in India including the Daytona 675 in 2016, the Bonneville Bobber in 2017, the Speedmaster in 2018, the Street Twin and Scrambler 1200 in 2019 as well as the Rocket III GT in 2020. The Daytona and the Street Triple were an instant hit with performance bike enthusiasts and the Tiger series kind of played an instrumental role in establishing the premium ADV bike segment in our country.
However, the biggest milestone for the brand in India came with its partnership with Bajaj Auto India. Although the partnership was announced in 2020, the first products from this coalition came in 2023 in the form of two mid-capacity motorcycles – the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X. The two bikes are built by Bajaj at its plant in Chakan and will exported to international markets. The 400 cc bikes are the key reason for the expansion of its dealership network and will account for the bulk of the sales of the British brand in our market.
Speaking at India Bike Week 2023, Sumeet Narang, President – Probiking Business Unit, Bajaj Auto India, said, “This is truly a moment of celebration for the Triumph community as we complete a successful, decade-long run in India. This decade of success truly embodies Triumph's spirit of excellence, keeping every rider at the core.”
Triumph has also organised a few rider-centric events such as the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) and the Triumph Adventure Trails. The latter has covered destinations like Spiti, Zangskar, Himachal and the Thar desert. The DGR is an initiative to raise awareness about men’s mental health and prostate cancer research, and riders dress up in suits to ride classic and vintage motorcycles. The first decade of Troumph’s India innings has been an exciting one and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for Indian bikers in the near future.
