Will we see a TVS version of the CE 02?
TVS and BMW’s partnership has already spawned four motorcycles; all packed with the same 312.2cc engine that produces 34 bhp and 27 Nm of torque and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Namely, the BMW G 310 GS, G 310 R and the G 310 RR, while the TVS only has the Apache 310 RR. However, there might be an addition to this shared line-up just around the corner.
According to a report by Autocar India, the recently unveiled BMW CE 02 electric moped's platform has been developed, designed and built in collaboration with TVS. This should not come as a shock since both manufacturers had agreed to extend their partnership for EVs sometime back. As mentioned above, this would result in a second platform-sharing exercise between BMW and TVS.
The recently unveiled CE 02 is powered by two 2 kWh lithium-ion battery packs, on the Highline version. BMW also allows customers to opt for a version which has one of the two battery packs removed. On the basic version, the claimed range comes down from 90 kilometres to 45 kilometres, while the top speed goes down from 95 kmph to 45 kmph. The weight falls by 13 kilograms, meaning the Highline version weighs 132 kilograms, while the basic one weighs 119 kilograms.
Other than that, the CE 02 comes with a 0.9 kW charger as standard, but, there’s an option of a 1.5 kW fast charger, too. BMW has equipped the CE 02 with USD forks at the front and a mono-shock setup at the rear. Braking duties are fulfilled by 296mm front disc with single-channel ABS. Furthermore, it comes with a double-loop tubular frame and power is sent to the rear-wheel via a belt drive system. It has a comfortable seat height of 750mm and even has two drive modes on the Highline version - Flow and Surf.
Where is the TVS version of the CE 02? Recently, TVS Motor Company sent out an invite for a new electric two-wheeler which is set to ‘defy the status quo in mobility.’ Only time will tell if this launch could be related to the BMW CE 02 electric two-wheeler, and we will have our answer on August 23.
