This is TVS’s third all-electric offering after the iQube.
TVS has launched its third all-electric scooter, the Orbiter. With prices starting from ₹99,900 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru, post PM E-Drive subsidy), this is TVS’ second most expensive all-electric offering, slotting between the TVS iQube and the TVS X. Bookings have already commenced; however, the brand has yet to reveal an exact delivery timeline.
The biggest talking point of the TVS Orbiter will be its new-age utilitarian design, which looks quite premium as well. Regular readers of Acko Drive would identify this design, as this was the same electric scooter that TVS had registered in Indonesia last month. As for the Orbiter, TVS has designed the scooter from the ground up to be very practical and spacious as well. For starters, it boasts 34 litres of underseat storage space, which is enough to store two half-face helmets. Besides that, there’s a small frunk on the apron as well, where you can keep your mobile phone while charging it via the USB port.
On the features front, the TVS Orbiter does not come with a TFT instrument console like its brethren, the iQube. Instead, it comes with a fully digital LCD console, which supports all the modern connectivity features that TVS has to offer. From turn-by-turn navigation to call/SMS alert, and much more. But the most notable addition of them all is cruise control – making it the only electric offering from the brand to be available with so. The cruise control has been introduced to extract the maximum range possible from the battery. Other than that, you also get auto hill-hold assist, reverse parking assist, and motor cut off on fall. Along with that, the TVS Orbiter is also available with crash/fall alert, time fencing alert, and live location.
The TVS Orbiter is available with just one battery pack, i.e., a 3.1 kWh pack, which is good for an IDC-claimed range of 158 km. The battery powers a 2.5 kWh electric motor, which is good for a top speed of just 68 kmph, and it takes 6.8 seconds to accelerate from 0-40 kmph. To extrapolate this performance as efficiently as possible, TVS is offering the Orbiter with just two ride modes -- Eco and City. On the other hand, TVS has not mentioned how powerful the standard charger is, but it takes 4 hours and 10 minutes to charge the battery from 0-80%.
The TVS Orbiter will be available in six colour options -- Neon Sunburst, Stratos Blue, Lunar Grey, Stellar Silver, Cosmic Titanium, and Martian Copper. Stay tuned to this space for all the latest updates on the new TVS Orbiter.
