It could finally be the time for the brand to launch the ST trim of the iQube
TVS Motors CEO, K N Radhakrishnan, has announced plans for the upcoming quarter. The company is preparing to introduce a new electric two-wheeler. TVS Motors, a leading two-wheeler manufacturer in India, has confirmed that it witnessed a surge in electric two-wheeler sales, with 48,000 units sold in the last quarter compared to 29,000 units in the quarter before that.
Radhakrishnan refrained from providing detailed information, stating that the new electric vehicle will be designed to "satisfy customer needs." It is possible that the company is gearing up to launch the much-anticipated iQube ST variant. The introduction of the iQube ST has faced delays, as the company faced challenges regarding production capacity and the changes to the FAME-II subsidy scheme.
Back in May 2022, the TVS iQube ST was claimed to have been packing a 4.56 kWh battery pack, which would give the e-scooter a healthy claimed range of 145 km. It will have a hub-mounted motor, which remains consistent with the base iQube and iQube S. The claimed top speed is expected to be slightly increased from 78 kmph to 82 kmph. A 950W charger will charge the scooter in 4.6 hrs up to 80%. The ST variant will be the only one in the iQube lineup supporting fast charging at 1.5 kW. The TVS iQube ST is expected to be priced at ₹1.5 lakh (ex-showroom) or more.
While our anticipation is geared towards the potential unveiling of the iQube ST variant, TVS might pleasantly surprise us with an entirely new offering. We are yet to see the final shape of the TVS X sporty e-scooter as well. However, it just misses the brief of “satisfy customer needs” with its not-so-mass market approach. Whatever be it, we are waiting TVS.
