The Mavrick 440 will be a premium model in the brand’s line-up, bearing the largest engine in Hero MotoCorp’s line-up.
India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero Motocorp is slated to launch their first 440cc motorcycle on January 22. The name of the bike has already been confirmed and it will be called the Mavrick, and as for its stylings a picture of the test mule has emerged giving us some key insights.
But firstly, it was already confirmed at the time of the launch of the Harley-Davidson X440, that Hero will follow it up with their own model based on the same platform in the future. So, the Mavrick will also be powered by the same 440cc single-cylinder, air-/oil-cooled engine, albeit with a different tune, hopefully. Currently, the motor produces 27 bhp and 38 Nm in the baby Harley.
As for the overall design of the bike, the Mavrick looks retro and yet modern. Right from the muscular tear-drop-shaped fuel tank which is flanked by faux air scoops to the round LED headlight unit with an H-shaped LED DRL in between (just like the H-D X440). The front of the bike looks nice and wholesome. However, due to camouflage, we can’t figure out the side as well as the rear end of the bike.
The ergonomics of the motorcycle look quite comfortable with the rider seated upright and the footpegs placed in a neutral position. Furthermore, unlike the H-D X440 which gets an upside-down fork, the test mule of the Hero Motocorp Mavrick 440 is equipped with a conventional telescopic fork, with shorter front fenders. The bike will come equipped with disc brakes on both tyres, with dual-channel ABS coming in as standard.
The upcoming Hero Mavrick 440 will arrive in the segment whose champion is undoubtedly the Royal Enfield Classic 350. The Mavrick 440 is expected to be priced competitively, so a price tag of around the ₹2 lakh mark won’t be surprising.
