If you’re not living under a rock, you must be aware that India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero Motocorp is gearing up for the launch of a brand new motorcycle on January 22. The exhaust note of the motorcycle has already been debuted, coupled with that, Hero Motocorp has also been releasing several teasers with the initials of the bike’s name.
But before we come to the main point, here are a few facts that are already known. Last year, it was confirmed that Hero Motocorp had filed a patent for the name ‘Mavrick 440’. The status for this patent application was already “Formalities Chk Pass”, which means Hero had received the patent.
Secondly, at the time of the launch of the Harley-Davidson X440, the American manufacturer’s first single-cylinder motorcycle after many years made exclusively for the Indian market, Hero Motocorp had also confirmed that they would be launching its own motorcycle based on the same platform as well. Coupled with the fact, that the “Mavrick” name patented also has the nomenclature ‘440’ attached to it, the chances of the same debuting on January 22 is high.
But underlining all the assumptions above are the teasers that Hero Motocorp has been releasing on their social media handles, the marquee has released small teaser videos with the initials of the bike’s name ‘M’, ‘A’, ‘V’, ‘R’, ‘I’, ‘C’, ‘K’. Thus, already giving us the name slowly and fully, which makes us conclude that the upcoming Hero motorcycle will be christened ‘Mavrick’.
Since the Hero Mavrick 440 will be based on the same platform that also underpins the H-D X440, we expect the former to be powered by the same 440cc, oil-cooled engine. Just like the H-D, the Mavrick 440 might also be a roadster motorcycle, albeit with a slight change in design in the form to give it a more traditional appearance.
Given that this is a Hero motorcycle with a 440cc engine, it will be a premium offering and might be priced under ₹2.5 lakh (ex-showroom). In this price range, the Mavrick will compete against the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350, and the Honda CB350.
