A new leak confirms that the KTM RC450 will feature a 449cc parallel-twin engine, which will be borrowed from the CFMoto 450SR-S.
Recent Chinese type-approval documents submitted by KTM and partner CFMoto have disclosed specifications of the upcoming RC450 fully-faired sportsbike, along with an image of what appears to be the production model.
The filings confirm the motorcycle shares its core platform with the CFMoto 450SR-S. According to these leaks, the RC450 is equipped with a 449cc parallel-twin engine, producing 55.4 bhp, which is an increase over the 51.7 bhp of the CFMoto equivalent.
Kerb weight stands at 168 kg, 3 kg lighter than the 450SR-S, while a top speed of 195 km/h is mentioned. The wheelbase measures 1,360 mm, 10 mm shorter than the CFMoto bike.
Key components carried over include the trellis frame and single-sided swingarm. However, the KTM specifies WP suspension in place of the KYB units on the CFMoto, along with a steering damper and quickshifter. Braking is handled by Bosch hardware, and tyre sizes remain 110/70-17 front and 150/60-17 rear.
Design elements align with KTM's RC series, featuring aggressive bodywork and integrated winglets on the front fairing. The riding position is expected to be more track-oriented, with lower clip-on handlebars and higher footpegs compared to the 450SR-S.
It remains to be seen if the KTM RC450 will be sold globally, or if it’ll be a China-exclusive model.
