VinFast is considering investments in EV manufacturing, battery storage, and renewable energy in Telangana, following talks with the chief minister, as the state seeks to attract global green and innovation-driven partnerships.
Vietnamese conglomerate VinGroup, the parent company of VinFast, has shown keen interest in establishing electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing and battery storage facilities in Telangana. This development follows a meeting in New Delhi between VinGroup’s Asia CEO, Pham Sanh Chau, and Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy.
As reported by the Times of India, the Telangana chief minister’s office confirmed that Pham Sanh Chau discussed VinGroup’s plans to explore investment opportunities in the state’s EV sector, battery storage, and renewable energy projects, including solar and wind. This aligns with Telangana’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable and clean energy initiatives.
During the meeting, the VinGroup executive also expressed appreciation for the state’s proposed Bharath Future City, describing it as a progressive and visionary project. He indicated VinGroup’s willingness to participate in its development, signalling the company’s broader interest in Telangana’s innovation-driven growth agenda.
Chief minister Revanth Reddy extended an invitation to both Pham Sanh Chau and VinGroup chairman Pham Nhat Vuong to attend the upcoming Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025, which is scheduled for December 8 and 9. The summit is expected to serve as a platform for global investors and industry leaders to engage with the state’s development plans.
The meeting was attended by several senior Telangana government officials, including Sanjay Kumar, special chief secretary (industries and commerce), B Ajith Reddy, special secretary to the chief minister, and Dr Gaurav Uppal, secretary (coordination, GoI projects and CSS).
According to the chief minister’s office, these discussions represent a significant step towards strengthening Telangana’s international investment partnerships and attracting green, innovation-led development. The state government views VinGroup’s interest as a positive sign for the region’s ambitions in the EV and renewable energy sectors, and as a boost to its efforts to position Telangana as a hub for sustainable industry.
