Volkswagen has recently announced that it is adding manual transmission options to the GT Plus trims of its Virtus sedan and Taigun SUV models in the Indian market. Additionally, the automaker is introducing new colours and special editions for these models. Prices, however, for the Volkswagen Virtus 1.5L MT and Taigun 1.5L MT versions will be announced in May.
The Virtus GT Plus will now come equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox, in addition to the existing 6-speed automatic transmission. The Taigun GT Plus, on the other hand, will get a 6-speed manual as standard, while the 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox remains an optional extra. These manual transmission options are expected to appeal to driving enthusiasts who prefer more control over their vehicles.
In terms of design, the Virtus GT Plus gets a new Deep Black metallic colour option, while the Taigun GT Plus gets a new Matte Grey along with the Deep Black exterior paint scheme. Both models also feature distinctive GT badges, body-coloured side skirts, rear spoilers, and blacked-out alloy wheels.
The Virtus GT Plus also gets new black and grey leatherette upholstery with GT branding, while the Taigun GT Plus comes with Vienna leather seats with GT stitching. The Taigun GT Plus also comes standard with a panoramic sunroof, an 8-speaker Beats Audio system, and ambient lighting.
Apart from these updates, Volkswagen is also introducing a special edition of the Taigun, called the Trail Edition, a much more rugged-looking version of the compact SUV.
In terms of safety, both the Virtus and Taigun models come with a range of advanced features as standard, including electronic stability control, hill hold control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The Taigun GT Plus also comes with front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, and six airbags.
