The ID.7 Tourer is the estate version of the all-electric ID.7 sedan.

Months after teasing the ID.7 Tourer, Volkswagen has finally revealed its production-spec version. Since it is based on the ID.7 sedan, it shares most of the design, hardware and features.

The Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer has the same dimensions as its sedan sibling, measuring 4,961 mm, 1,862 mm and 1,536 mm in length, width and height, respectively and has a wheelbase of 2,971 mm. Since the Tourer is an estate, it has more cargo area than the standard ID.7. The electric estate has a boot space of 1,714 litres with all seats folded down, and with all seats up, it has a boot space of 605 litres.

Cosmetically, the Tourer looks identical to the ID.7 till the B-pillar. After that, the Tourer has more of a shooting brake design (like the Arteon Shooting Brake) and the roof merges into the rear spoiler. Interestingly, despite the different rear-end designs, the sedan and the estate versions of the ID.7 share the same taillamp design with an LED light bar spanning the width of the vehicles. Furthermore, both iterations of the ID.7 also share the designs of their bumpers and alloy wheels. Speaking of which, the ID.7 Tourer comes with 19-inch wheels as standard, with the option to upgrade to 20-inch wheels. Volkswagen says the ID.7 Tourer will also get 21-inch alloy wheels in the future.

Inside, both versions of the ID.7 are identical in appearance and equipment list. The ID.7 Tourer, like the sedan, also gets an augmented reality head-up display as standard along with a 15-inch, free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with ChatGPT integration that Volkswagen announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in January. The ID.7 Tourer also gets the new Wellness In-Car app which allows passengers to relax. This app uses ambient lighting, sound, air conditioning, panoramic sunroof, seat ventilation and massaging to create three programmes – Fresh Up, Calm Down and Power Break. The ID.7 Tourer also gets an electronically controlled panoramic sunroof that can turn opaque or transparent at the touch of a button.

Volkswagen

The ID.7 Tourer also shares its powertrain with the standard ID.7 as it gets a rear-axle-mounted electric motor producing 282 bhp and 545 Nm. The Tourer gets two battery packs – a 77 kWh unit available at launch and an 86 kWh battery that will come later. Volkswagen claims the bigger battery pack will have a range of 685 km on a full charge and can be charged from 10-80 per cent in under 30 mins using a 200 kW DC charger.

Volkswagen says presales of the ID.7 Tourer in Europe will begin by March 2024 and it will be built at its Emden, Germany plant along with the ID.7 sedan and ID.4 SUV.
