The ID.Buzz GTX comes with multiple seating and body configurations.
Two years after introducing the ID.Buzz, Volkswagen has revealed the high-performance version of the electric MPV. Dubbed the ID.Buzz GTX, the electric MPV develops 335 bhp and comes in multiple seating and body configurations.
Cosmetically, not much has changed over the standard ID.Buzz. The GTX model gets new designs for the alloy wheels as well as a redesigned front bumper with boomerang-shaped lighting elements. At the back, the new model gets GTX lettering under the Volkswagen logo on the tailgate, instead of the ID.Buzz lettering on the standard models.
The ID.Buzz GTX is offered in short-wheelbase (SWB) and long-wheelbase (LWB) versions. The former has a towing capacity of up to 1,800 kg, while the latter has a towing capacity of up to 1,600 kg. Volkswagen is also offering the ID.Buzz GTX in 5-, 6- and 7-seat configurations. While both wheelbase configurations will be offered with 5- and 6-seat layouts, the 7-seat layout will only be available on the LWB versions.
Inside, the GTX gets a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, instead of the 12-inch unit in the standard ID.Buzz. The new system also gets ChatGPT integration Volkswagen announced at CES 2024. Furthermore, the GTX gets a head-up display as an optional extra. Volkswagen says the panoramic sunroof on the ID.Buzz GTX LWB is the largest one it has ever used and can be electronically switched from transparent to opaque. Volkswagen also says the GTX is the first model in the ID.Buzz lineup to feature an all-black interior.
The ID.Buzz GTX gets two battery packs – a 79 kWh (SWB) and an 86 kWh unit (LWB). The smaller unit supports DC fast charging up to 185 kW, while the larger unit supports up to 200 kW DC fast charging. At maximum charging capacity, both batteries can be charged from 10-80 per cent in around 26 minutes.
As mentioned, the GTX develops 335 bhp and its top speed is limited to 160 kmph. It also gets Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive configuration as standard, which the brand says helps the GTX to do 0-100 kmph in 6.5 seconds.
