Volkswagen India has confirmed that the lower-spec, non-R-Line variant of the Tayron SUV will launch tomorrow, July 10, 2026.
The exterior design language retains the connected LED illumination layout seen on the R-Line variant, highlighted by projector LED headlamp units, a full-width front light bar, and an illuminated central Volkswagen emblem. While the exact configurations of the front grille and lower bumper area remain hidden, they are expected to adopt a cleaner, less aggressive design matrix compared to the R-Line.
The side profile has a completely new alloy wheel pattern, which is expected to downsize from the R-Line's 19-inch setup. The rear end mirrors the front with a connected LED tail-light assembly and an integrated glowing brand logo.
Moving inside, the lower-spec variant switches to a dual-tone seat upholstery design, moving away from the monochromatic all-black cabin layout of the R-Line model. The basic dashboard architecture remains unchanged, featuring a prominent free-standing touchscreen infotainment system alongside a fully digital driver's instrument display.
Mechanically, the entry-level variant is expected to retain the R-Line's 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This powertrain develops 201 bhp of maximum power and 320 Nm of peak torque. The motor will remain paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT), transmitting power to the ground via an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.
By omitting the cosmetic R-Line package and a few premium cabin features, the German automaker intends to position this new variant below the current R-Line model, which carries a standard ex-showroom price tag of ₹46.99 lakh.
