Volkswagen Tayron R-Line India Launch Tomorrow: Specs, Price, and VW's Premium SUV Strategy

Volkswagen India launches the Tayron R-Line on February 19. Pre-bookings opened earlier this month with a ₹51,000 token amount.

Launch Details

The Tayron R-Line will be assembled at the VW Group's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant. It will be positioned as Volkswagen's flagship 7-seater SUV, above the Tiguan. Expected price starts at ₹50 lakh ex-showroom.

Engine and Performance

It uses a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine. Power output reaches 204 hp at 4500-6000 rpm and 320 Nm at 1500-4400 rpm. A 7-speed DSG automatic transmission pairs with 4Motion all-wheel drive.

Dimensions and Seating

Length measures 4,792 mm, width 1,866 mm, height 1,666 mm, and wheelbase 2,789 mm. It seats seven in three rows with flexible boot space.

Key Features

A 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system comes standard. Other items include panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, and 30-colour ambient lighting. Level-2 ADAS offers adaptive cruise control and lane assist.

Safety Specs

It includes nine airbags, electronic stability control, and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. ISOFIX mounts and TPMS add to the package.

VW's Premium Push

The Tayron helps Volkswagen expand in the premium 7-seater SUV segment. It targets rivals like Hyundai Tucson and Skoda Kodiaq. Local assembly cuts costs under India 2.0 strategy. This move boosts VW's premium image amid 2026 SUV plans.
