Volkswagen India has dropped images of the Virtus facelift, revealing all the exterior changes on the updated sedan. The Volkswagen Virtus facelift gets a refreshed front profile with subtle changes. The bumper has been revamped and gets a new mesh design with a diamond theme, as well as smaller fog lamp housings. The bumper is finished in gloss black for a premium touch. The headlamps appear to be the same, while the grille has been revised and now features the new illuminated VW logo, which we’ve seen on the Taigun facelift. The rear remains identical to the outgoing model, save for the revised bumper and smoked taillights. The ORVMs, lip spoiler, and roof are all painted black revealing a dual-tone paint scheme, along with a new shade of blue. Rounding up the changes are the new alloy wheels finished in black with red brake calipers on the top-spec GT variant. Expect silver or diamond-cut alloys on the other trims.

Volkswagen is yet to reveal the cabin on the new Virtus but expect the overall layout to remain identical. That said, a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with newer features, including a 360-degree camera, as seen on the recently launched Skoda Slavia facelift. We also expect to see new interior upholstery, an improved air conditioning system with the bigger compressor, and an updated digital instrument console with navigation. It’ll be interesting to see if Volkswagen skips the rear massage function on the Virtus as well, like it did on the Taigun.

Engine options on the Virtus facelift are likely to remain the same with the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol. The 1.0-litre TSI will continue with the 6-speed manual and will get the new 8-speed torque converter automatic, replacing the 6-speed automatic. The new transmission will help improve low-end tractability, as well as high-speed consistently delivering better power at the top end and improved fuel efficiency figures too. The 1.5-litre TSI will continue with the 7-speed DSG automatic, while the 6-speed manual is unlikely to return.

More details on the new Virtus will be available in the coming days. Make sure to keep watching this space for all the action.
