Hyundai Motor India is riding high on the back of the 2024 Hyundai Creta and the recently launched Creta N Line. However, the company is looking at other alternatives to expand its product portfolio and CNG could be a viable option. At present, the company retails the Exter, Aura and Grand i10 with factory-fitted CNG kits along with the petrol versions.

In a conversation with Acko Drive, Puneet Anand, AVP, Corporate Affairs & Corporate Communication, Hyundai Motor India said, “We are always ready to do. But again, it is the customer’s choice.”
CNG vehicles contribute 12.8 per cent of total passenger vehicle sales in India, with Maruti Suzuki offering 12 CNG products and commanding 75 per cent of the total market share. This is followed by Tata Motors (12 per cent), Hyundai (11 per cent), and Toyota (2 per cent).

In the compact SUV segment, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota offer CNG versions of the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser HyRyder respectively, and the potential arrival of the Creta CNG could heat the alternate fuel segment.
Hyundai recently launched the refreshed version of the Creta at a starting price of Rs. 11 lakh and goes up to Rs. 20.15 lakh (ex-showroom) and rivals the Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq and even the Volkswagen Taigun in the compact SUV segment.
