Verwood (UK)-based Crescent Yamaha, the official dealership behind the Pata Promoteo Yamaha World Superbike team has just unveiled a limited edition, exclusive run of Jonathan Rea tribute “Ultimate Track Day” GYTR R1. Priced at £65,000 (approximately ₹68.94 lakh without Indian taxes and duties), only 10 examples will ever be built. All of them will be dressed in this special ‘JR Winter Test’ livery which is designed by Aldo Drudi, who also designs Valentino Rossi’s iconic crash helmet.
The goal was to create an exclusive R1 optimised for peak track performance. So, aside from the readily available GYTR (Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing) parts, Crescent Yamaha has further tuned the engine for performance. Notable upgrades include Crescent's cylinder head porting, increased compression ratio, GYTR race camshafts, air funnel kit and Akrapovic exhaust. These mods boost power output to around 215 bhp - over 30 bhp more than the stock R1.
Other changes focus on improving grip, stability and adjustability for track use. The bike gets a WorldSBK-style underslung swingarm, Öhlins suspension, adjustable steering damper, Brembo brakes and Marchesini forged wheels. Customizable GYTR race electronics are included via a special wiring harness and handlebar adjustment switches. The bike also features carbon bodywork, titanium Pro-Bolt fasteners and other GYTR components.
Each limited edition unit will be certified by Crescent Yamaha and buyers get to meet Jonathan Rea at a WorldSBK round. A Crescent technician will also attend a track day to properly set up the motorcycle for each owner (UK only).
