Kinetic Green will sell the rebranded ‘e-Zulu’ alongside existing stock for 12 months, starting immediately.
In a recent development, Yulu Bikes and Kinetic Green have reached an out-of-court settlement in their trademark dispute over the ‘Zulu’ brand name. This resolution has come after months of court battles which have started from a lawsuit in January 2024.
The dispute began in December 2023 when Kinetic Green launched their "Zulu" e-scooter, which Yulu Bikes claimed was too similar to its established brand name. Yulu filed a lawsuit in January 2024, seeking a temporary injunction to prevent Kinetic Green from using the "Zulu" name.
The legal battle saw several twists and turns, with the lower court initially denying the injunction request. However, the Karnataka High Court partially granted the injunction in February 2024, prohibiting Kinetic Green from using the trademarks "Zulu," or similar variations.
After a brief legal battle, both parties reached a compromise, allowing Kinetic Green to rebrand "Zulu" as "e-Zulu" and add "Kinetic Green" or "KG" to the name. This settlement enables Kinetic Green to maintain its brand identity while avoiding customer confusion.

Under the terms of the settlement, Kinetic Green has agreed to rebrand its "Zulu" e-scooter as "e-Zulu" and will include "Kinetic Green" or "KG" in the name to avoid any further trademark confusion. Additionally, the company is permitted to clear out its existing "Zulu" stock over the next 12 months. Going forward, Kinetic Green will focus on promoting and selling the newly rebranded "e-Zulu" e-scooter, which will be available in the market immediately.
