What is an RC and Why Is It Important?

A Registration Certificate or RC is a lawful evidence of the fact that your vehicle is registered with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways under the local RTO (Regional Transport Office). It has very important details like:

  • Vehicle's registration number

  • Owner's name and address

  • Engine and chassis numbers

  • Type of fuel utilised

  • Date of registration

According to the Motor Vehicles Act, it is compulsory for you to carry a valid RC while driving any vehicle on Indian roads, including those of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

What is a Duplicate RC?

Common Causes of Delay in Duplicate RC Processing
