Rajasthan Vehicle Registration Details

Whenever you purchase a new vehicle, you need to register it as per the Motor Vehicle Act of India to drive on the roads of Rajasthan and throughout the country. Thus, the Regional Transport Office in Rajasthan conducts simple registration processes through more than 50 RTOs throughout the state.

Given below is a breakdown of the Rajasthan RTO vehicle registration process in three phases:

First Phase

  • You must register your new vehicles in Rajasthan from the RTOs within 7 days from the date of purchase.

  • According to the mandates of the Motor Vehicle Act of India, you must have a permanent registration to drive your vehicle on the roads of Rajasthan.

  • Thus, you need to primarily go for a temporary registration and then eventually opt for the permanent one.

  • You can apply for it online or visit the nearest RTO to initiate your vehicle's registration process.

Second Phase

  • A temporary Registration Certificate (RC) will be valid for the next 15 days only. Thus, after the temporary Registration Certificate (RC) expires, you need to apply for a permanent Registration Certificate (RC) that is valid for 15 years.

  • You must carry the required documents during your vehicle's registration, such as your identity proof, address proof, and the proper invoice of the registered vehicle, along with Form 20 (application for registration).

  • You need to pay the required registration fee.

Third Phase

  • After your vehicle’s registration process is completed, a unique registration number will be generated within the next 10 working days.

  • Your Registration Certificate (RC) is a smart card that contains the necessary information about your vehicle, such as its registration date, registration number, vehicle model, vehicle colour, and chassis number.

  • Your Registration Certificate (RC) will be sent to your registered mailing address.
