Unique identification

Each HSRP has a specific code laser-etched onto the plate, which is unique to each vehicle, aiding in better identification and tracking.

Tamper-proof

The HSRP plates are designed to be tamper-proof, with a secure fastening system that deters removal or tampering.

Colour coding

The colour of the sticker corresponds to the type of vehicle and its registration category, helping in quick visual identification.

Tips Before Applying for HSRP in Himachal Pradesh

Here are some simple but effective tips you can follow before applying for the HSRP number plate:

Documents

You will need a few documents to complete the HSRP application process. The most important document for this process is your vehicle’s RC. You will also need your address proof and identity proof. You can use your PAN card, Aadhaar card or your driver’s license for this purpose. When you need to replace your compromised HSRP number plate, ensure that you have a copy of the FIR you registered, alerting the authorities about the compromised one. You use it along with your vehicle’s RC to get a replacement HSRP number plate.

Unauthorised vendors

Keep in mind that your HSRP number plate should not be something you should take lightly, as it is the law of the land. There will be severe legal consequences if you are found with a fake one. So get the HSRP number plate through legal and authorised means. This could be through the authorised booking portal or through an authorised installation centre. You can also contact your local RTO to guide you to the legitimate means of obtaining the number plates. Never use an unauthorised local mechanic or a third-party vendor when it comes to your HSRP number plates.

Fines and dues

If you have any longstanding traffic fines or dues with the RTO, clear them before you apply for the HSRP number plate. These could become pain points and stop the smooth progress of your application.

Vehicle details

There should be no mismatch in the vehicle details that are present in your vehicle’s RC.

These details include the vehicle’s registration number, chassis number and engine number. This will become another pain point and could potentially stall your application process or even get it rejected.

Fitment

When it comes to the HSRP number plate fitment, you need to be aware of the options available to you before you start your application process. Usually, you can get the fitting done at an authorised installation centre close to where you live. But there is an option to get home delivery as well. You need to check if such an option is available for your location and book accordingly. Keep in mind you will have to pay a little extra for the home delivery option.

HSRP and Safe Vehicle Ownership in Himachal Pradesh

There are several ways in which HSRP number plates support safe vehicle ownership.

Standardisation

Since the HSRP number plates are standardised across the country, identifying and tracking them becomes easy for the authorities. This, in turn, leads to enhanced road safety and administration.

Anti-theft and anti-fraud

The HSRP number plates are quite hard to clone and tamper with. This makes it difficult for criminals to have their way with a stolen vehicle.

Improve enforcement

Since HSRP number plates are easy to read and verify, the law enforcement community can do its job with ease, especially during vehicle checks, criminal investigations and accidents.
